London, 5 November 2025
Angola Tourism made its official debut to the UK travel trade this week at World Travel Market London 2025, marking a major milestone as the nation unveils itself as Africa’s most exciting new destination for UK travellers.
As part of its UK launch, Angola Tourism proudly sponsored the Africa Travel and Tourism Association (Atta) networking evening on Tuesday 4 November, welcoming over 160 tour operators, travel media, and Africa travel specialists to celebrate the country’s arrival on the global tourism stage.
Hosted in partnership with the Angola Consulate in London, the event was attended by Antonio De Sousa, representing the Consulate, and Tim Henshall, Director of Angola Tourism UK, who addressed the audience with an inspiring introduction to the destination.
“Angola is a land of staggering contrasts and untold stories,” said Tim Henshall, Director, Angola Tourism UK. “From the thundering Kalandula Falls to vast wilderness areas like Iona and Kissama National Parks, from our unspoiled Atlantic coastline to the vibrant streets of Luanda - Angola offers a side of Africa that few have ever seen. As we launch to the UK market, we’re inviting travellers and trade partners alike to be among the first to discover it.”
The evening celebrated Angola’s 50th year of independence, symbolising a golden era of renewal and international connection. In his remarks, Antonio De Sousa highlighted Angola’s growing partnership with the UK tourism industry and its vision to position tourism as a cornerstone of economic and cultural exchange.
With the launch of its dedicated UK tourism office, Angola Tourism aims to work closely with tour operators, travel agents, and media to showcase the country’s unique offerings – from its wildlife-rich national parks and UNESCO World Heritage sites to its dynamic cities and deeply rooted cultural traditions.
A country where elephants roam landscapes untouched by mass tourism, waterfalls rival Victoria Falls in grandeur, and 1,600 kilometres of pristine coastline remain blissfully uncrowded, Angola is now positioning itself as Southern Africa’s last frontier for authentic adventure.
“As Angola celebrates 50 years of independence, we are stepping proudly onto the global tourism stage,” said Márcio de Jesus Lopes Daniel, Minister of Tourism of the Republic of Angola. “Our story is one of resilience, diversity, and breathtaking beauty. We are thrilled to welcome UK travellers who crave authentic, pioneering experiences – those who want to discover a destination before the world catches on.”
With new tourism infrastructure, improved connectivity, and a renewed focus on sustainability, Angola’s entry into the UK market marks a significant opportunity for trade partners seeking fresh, original destinations in Africa.

About Angola
Angola is Africa's magnificent secret, a country of jaw-dropping contrasts and untamed beauty in the heart of Southern Africa. As the continent's sixth-largest nation, Angola dazzles with landscapes that shift from lush rainforests to dramatic desert expanses, from thundering waterfalls to 1,600 kilometres of pristine Atlantic coastline. This is a land shaped by powerful kingdoms and complex history, where the ancient Kingdom of Congo once held sway and Portuguese colonial influence left an indelible mark. The capital, Luanda, is a dynamic Atlantic gateway where African vitality, Portuguese heritage, and indigenous traditions create an intoxicating urban energy. Here, the music never stops - semba, kizomba, and kuduro provide the soundtrack to a city that's cosmopolitan, creative, and utterly captivating. With its rallying cry "Visit Angola – The Rhythm of Life," the destination calls to explorers, nature enthusiasts, and culture seekers who refuse to follow the crowd. For those who want to experience Africa as few have seen it - raw, authentic, and profoundly moving - Angola represents truly virgin territory. This is where the real adventure begins.
